2 PhD Positions in Muenster, Germany
2 PhD students in glioma research using Drosophila models in Muenster (Muenster, Germany): The Institutes of Neuropathology (Prof. Werner Paulus) and Neurobiology (Prof. Christian Klaembt), University of Muenster, offer 2 PhD positions in glioma research utilizing Drosophila models. The positions are funded by DFG and are available for 3 years.
Gliomas are the most common brain tumors in humans. For better understanding their molecular pathogenesis and for evaluating innovative types of therapies new models are required. We have recently established the first Drosophila model of glioma. Using this model we are now in the process of performing genetic screens for identifying interacting genes that are then analyzed in human tumors. This is an exciting interdisciplinary project based on our combined expertise in cancer research and Drosophila technology.
We are seeking highly motivated applicants with a strong background in molecular biomedicine and/or Drosophila research.
