Program limits:
The funding for this scholarship is provided by the State of Michigan. Applicants are not
guaranteed an award. Funds allocated to each college are limited. Annual awards are
$4,000 per academic year for full time students, $3,000 for three-quarter time students, or
$2,000 for half-time students. Scholarship cannot exceed cost of attendance when
combined with other grants and awards. It is anticipated that approximately 20
applicants will be awarded the scholarship for the 2008-2009 school year.

one year for each year of assistance. Failure to do so will result in repayment of the
scholarship funds awarded.
Kirtland Specific Requirements:
Applicants must have a minimum Kirtland GPA of 2.7 for consideration.
Priority may be given to students with need; however, financial need is not a
requirement for receiving the scholarship. A combination of academic performance
and clinical performance will be two primary factors used by faculty when ranking
applicants. Consideration will also be given to a candidate=s self motivation, positive
attitude, self-directedness, and value as a professional. Students enrolled in Level II
program during 2008-2009 will receive first consideration.
Application Procedures:
Submit application, written statement of goals and at least one letter of recommendation
no later than Friday, August 29, 2008 for consideration for the 2008-2009 academic year.

requirements are met. Selection of recipients will be determined by a panel of KCC Level
I and Level II Nursing Program faculty. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by
the end of September.
