2009-10 Governor’s Opportunity Award Application
2009-10 GOVERNOR’S OPPORTUNITY AWARD APPLICATION for Chadron, Peru, or Wayne State Colleges, DEADLINE: DECEMBER 1, 2008 The following information is required in order to apply for a Governor’s Opportunity Award for Chadron, Peru, or Wayne State Colleges. The applicant completes Section I of this form. The applicant then should submit the form and essay to the guidance counselor or principal to complete Section II. The counselor/principal should send the form and essay to the System Office in Lincoln. Send completed applications to the Nebraska State College System Office, P.O. Box 94605, Lincoln, NE 68509. The
deadline for applications for the 2009-10 Governor’s Opportunity Award is December 1, 2008. All information must be postmarked by that date. Financial need is not a prerequisite for the scholarship. Notice: All applicants must also complete an application for admission into the specific college before this scholarship can be awarded.
To be eligible for a Governor’s Opportunity Award, the applicant must satisfy ALL of the following requirements:
1. Score at between a 21 and 24 on the ACT or a 1500 and 1650 on the SAT college entrance exam.
2. Graduate in 2009 from a Nebraska high school.
3. Enroll as a full-time college student at Chadron, Peru or Wayne State in the fall of 2009.
4. Be a resident of Nebraska.
5. Submit essay detailed in Section I C of this application.
The Governor’s Opportunity Award provides half-tuition remission at Chadron, Peru, or Wayne State Colleges for up to four years. The award is for a specified college only and is not transferable from one state college to another. An applicant may apply for a scholarship at ONLY ONE state college. Recipients of scholarships must enroll as full-time students carrying 12 hours or more per semester. The awards will terminate if the recipient is under academic suspension or probation.
