About the Scholarships:

This document is an application for full time undergraduate and vocational students and graduatestudents. Part time students have a separate application.The Cowlitz Indian Tribe awards scholarships each year for students attending an accredited post-secondary institution. Past recipients of the award are eligible for subsequent competitions. Proof ofCowlitz enrollment is required to be eligible for this competition.Funds awarded in this competition shall be used in the 2009-2010 academic year. Funds awarded inthis competition will be sent directly to the winner’s institution. Applicants selected for funding mustsupply the education committee with the contact information for the financial aid department of theirinstitution by July 31, 2009 in order for funds to be disbursed in a timely manner. Funded studentswho are unable to meet this deadline must contact the committee beforehand and make alternativearrangements to ensure timely processing of scholarship funds.

• Applications are due April 15, 2009. Late applications are not eligible for consideration.• Awards are announced at the June meeting of the General Council.There are separate scholarship competitions for the following types of students:

• Part Time Students – students attending a community college, traditional college, orprofessional/vocational school, who are not enrolled full time.• Full Time Undergraduate and Vocational Students – students attending school full time. Thisincludes both students who attend professional/vocational schools and students attendingcommunity colleges and traditional colleges.• Graduate Students – students who have earned an undergraduate degree and are pursuingadditional educationOnly complete applications are eligible for consideration.

There will be no exceptions to thisrequirement. No additions to the application package will be accepted after the application has beensubmitted. All transcripts, recommendation letters, and other application components must beincluded in the application package at the time of submission.All applications must include completed copies of the checklist and the coversheet included thisdocument.Application components must be submitted in the order listed on the checklist.Accommodations may be made for students with disabilities.
