2009-2010 Postdoctoral Fellowships, Cancer Research, France
Postdoctoral Fellowships for Training in Cancer Research 2009-2010 (International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC)) for junior scientists from low- or medium-resource countries wishing to complete their training in those aspects of cancer research related to the Agency’s mission: to coordinate and conduct both epidemiological and laboratory research into the causes of cancer.
Visiting Scientist Award for Senior Scientists who wish to spend from six to twelve months at the IARC working on a collaborative project in a research area related to the Agency’s programmes: epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental chemical carcinogenesis, cancer etiology and prevention, infection and cancer, molecular cell biology, molecular genetics, molecular pathology and mechanisms of carcinogenesis.
Expertise Transfer Fellowship to enable an established investigator to spend normally from six to twelve months in an appropriate host institute in a low- / medium-resource country in order to transfer knowledge and expertise in a research area relevant for the host country and related to the Agency’s programmes: epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental chemical carcinogenesis, cancer etiology and prevention, infection and cancer, molecular cell biology, molecular genetics, molecular pathology and mechanisms of carcinogenesis.
Applications must reach the Agency no later than 30 November 2008.

Holding a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science and working in this profession – Librarianship since 18 years with many papers in national and international journals. Presently serving at Cancer Research Institute (ACTREC) since last 5 years and looking for opportunities to hone my skills for setting a national cancer research information portal for India. Objectivities of the institute are available at http://www.actrec.gov.in and I too have designed and developed a site for library using open source software JOOMLA and is available at http://library.actrec.gov.in. My other area of interest includes scientometric study of publications from India in the cancer domain to identify the indicators in cancer research. It helps in redesigning the national cancer control programme policy in India. One of my papers “Information for Cancer Researchers: Evaluation of Content Values on Cancer Web Sites” got accepted in UICC 2008 conference held in Geneva. But could not able to attend it because of financial constraints / Fellowships.
I would be grateful to know and receive feedback on the subject that throw a light on available Fellowships with a duration of 2-3 months.
