Terralink International Limited Scholarship

Background and purpose
Terralink International Limited is a leading New Zealand company providing GIS and mapping solutions, with offices in Wellington and Auckland. In order to encourage students seeking careers in image processing, remote sensing or precision agriculture, Terralink International Limited is offering a scholarship and possible temporary part-time employment for students pursuing this career path.

Tenure and value
One Scholarship will be awarded annually with a value of $5000; tenure is for one year.

Eligibility
Open to College of Sciences students with an intended career path in image processing, remote sensing or precision agriculture. The recipient must have completed a 200 level remote sensing paper, a 300 level advanced remote sensing paper, be enrolled in, or have completed, a 700 level environmental remote sensing paper, and must complete a research project related to Terralink International Limited as part of their course of study. The Scholarship is open to applicants undertaking Honours, Postgraduate Diploma and those doing a Masterate (thesis only) degree.
Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.

Criteria
The Scholarship will be awarded on the relevance of the research project and academic merit, particularly in the requisite remote sensing papers.
Applicants must provide a summary of their proposed study and career path and how it relates to image processing, remote sensing or precision agriculture.

Responsibility for the Award
The Scholarship shall be awarded by the University Scholarships Committee on the recommendation of the Selection Committee.

Selection Committee
The Selection Committee shall comprise The Chairperson of the Scholarships Committee, or their nominee, a representative from Terralink International Limited, and an academic staff representative from the Institute of Natural Resources.

Payment
The Scholarship monies shall be paid in one instalment in June.

Conditions of the Award
The Scholarship recipient may not hold another externally funded award at the same time.
Any employment will be at the absolute discretion of Terralink International Limited and Terralink International Limited reserves the right to offer employment to a non-selected candidate.

Closing date
30 April for tenure in the year of the award.
