The ConocoPhillips SPIRIT is offering scholarships to encourage Engineering and Health, Safety and Environment students to consider a career in the energy industry. The program provides educational support and professional development opportunities to students.  The scholarship is available for undergraduate programme at the University of Queensland who are enrolled in the penultimate year (commencing the final two years). Australian citizen can apply for the scholarship.

Study Subject(s): The scholarship is available to pursue
(i) Bachelor of Engineering degree (Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering), or
(ii) combined Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical) / Science degree, or
(iii) combined Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical) / Commerce degree, or
(iv) Bachelor of Environmental Science degree, or
(v) Bachelor of Science (Honours) Environmental Science degree, or
(vi) Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety Science degree.

Eligibility: 
Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria to be considered for The ConocoPhillips SPIRIT Scholarship:
Be an Australian citizen or Australian Permanent Resident
Be enrolled full time at The University of Queensland in the penultimate year of a:
(i) Bachelor of Engineering degree (Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering), or
(ii) combined Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical) / Science degree, or
(iii) combined Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical) / Commerce degree, or
(iv) Bachelor of Environmental Science degree, or
(v) Bachelor of Science (Honours) Environmental Science degree, or
(vi) Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety Science degree.

Scholarship Description: The University of QueenslandThe ConocoPhillips SPIRIT Scholarship has been established to encourage Engineering and Health, Safety and Environment students to consider a career in the energy industry. The program provides educational support and professional development opportunities to students. The ConocoPhillips SPIRIT Scholarship is available to full-time undergraduate students at The University of Queensland who are enrolled in the penultimate year (commencing the final two years).

Duration of award(s): Scholarship is awarded for 2 years.

What does it cover? (i) A cash payment of $6,500 per year for two years or the remainder of the recipient’s course, whichever comes first. The funds can be used at the recipient’s discretion to contribute towards payment of their course fees, or for other education-related expenses such as books;
(ii) An amount of up to $1,500 per year for professional development. Professional development refers to opportunities such as field trips, seminars, costs relating to work experience or some other development opportunity proposed by the recipient and approved by ConocoPhillips;
(iii) In addition, scholarship recipients may be offered vacation employment with ConocoPhillips at one of its business locations. Any vacation employment will be organised at the end of semester 1 of the first year of the Scholarship and students will usually be placed during the summer university break at the completion of the first year of the Scholarship. Payment for any vacation employment will be organised directly between the student and ConocoPhillips.

Selection criteria: The scholarship(s) will be awarded by a Selection Panel using the following criteria:
-Satisfactory academic progress (minimum Credit Average)
-Responses in the application form
-Compatibility with ConocoPhillips’ SPIRIT values and the strength of interest displayed in pursuing a future career in the energy industry, as assessed by the selection panel
-The strength of the interest that the applicant demonstrates in completing at least one period of vacation employment at ConocoPhillips.

Notifications: The successful applicant will be notified in writing by ConocoPhillips Australia.

How to Apply: Completed application form must be submitted electronically or by post.

Scholarship Application Deadline: The last date to submit the form is March 292013.
