Ghent University provides grants to candidates from developing countries who wish to obtain a master’s degree. It will only reward scholarships to students already in their first master year at Ghent University, following a 2-year Master programme taught in English.

The aim of the Ghent University Master Grants is to enable and encourage academically able students from developing countries.

Ghent University is a top 100 university founded in 1817. As one of the major universities in Belgium, our 11 faculties offer a wide range of courses and conduct in-depth research in both exact and social sciences.

Applicants must have a bachelor degree when applicants submit their application. To be able to determine the proficiency of someone’s knowledge of Dutch or English, Ghent University uses the Common European Framework Reference for Foreign Languages.

Course Level: In 2016, Ghent University will only reward scholarships to students already in their first master year at Ghent University, following a 2-year Master programme taught in English.

Study Subject: Scholarships are offered in diverse fields to help students in upgrading their education.

Scholarship Award: The scholarship fee consists of:
-Allowance of €1000 per month.
-One-time only installation fee of €500
-Insurance (health, civil liability, repatriation)
-Yearly reimbursement of the tuition fee with a maximum of €105
Warning: in case of increased tuition fee for the master’s programme, Ghent University will only reimburse the refundable part. Fees vary according to the programme and can be up to €8000 e.g. certain Erasmus Mundus programmes.
Airline ticket and visa costs are not included in the grant.

Scholarship can be taken at: Belgium

Eligibility: Students already in their first master year of one of the above mentioned programmes at Ghent University.
-Degree: Applicants must have a bachelor degree when applicants submit their application.
-Nationality: If applicants country is on the List of Developing Countries , applicants can apply for the Master Grant. If not, they will not be eligible.

Nationality: Students of developing countries are particularly encouraged to apply.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have a bachelor degree when applicants submit their application.

Test Requirement: No

Supporting Material: Applicants will need to upload their admission letter of Ghent University and the results of their first semester at Ghent University.
