2013 PhD Scholarships on Predictive Models for the Combustion of Multicomponent Biofuels in Australia
The University of Sydney announces two PhD scholarships. The PhD scholarship is provided to study predictive models for the combustion of multicomponent biofuels. Applicants applying for the scholarship should have completed a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree with first or upper second class honours in mechanical engineering or a related field and have a strong aptitude for computational fluid dynamics and computer programming. International students may apply for the scholarship.
Study Subject(s): Scholarships are provided in the field of Predictive Models for the Combustion of Multicomponent Biofuels.
Course Level: This studentship is available for pursuing PhD degree level.
Scholarship Provider: University of Sydney
Scholarship can be taken at: Australia
Eligibility: Applicants should have completed a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree with first or upper second class honors’ in mechanical engineering or a related field and have a strong aptitude for computational fluid dynamics and computer programming. International students may apply but must be in receipt of a tuition fee scholarship from an external funding source.
Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: Scholarship is open for International and Australian students.
Scholarship Description: Up to two PhD scholarships are available to conduct research into advanced, computationally efficient models for predicting pollutant emissions from the turbulent combustion of biofuels. Although biofuels may be carbon-neutral there is a need to ensure that emissions of toxic gases such as NOx and CO are low and that the future widespread use of biofuels does not lead to harmful levels of urban air pollution. The models will make use of large eddy simulations and Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes solvers implemented in open-source software.
Number of awards offered: 2 scholarships are offered.
Duration of Award: Scholarship is offered for 3 years.
What does it cover? The scholarship is valued at $34,653 in 2013 (tax exempt) and may be renewed for up to another two years, subject to satisfactory progress. A top up scholarship at the value of $10,000 pa for 3 years will be available to successful APA applicants.
How to Apply: Applications have to be sent electronically.
Scholarship Application Deadline: Submit complete application till 22nd February 2013.
