Scholarship Description: Through Small Business Success Student Scholarship program, SuretyBonds.com hopes to hear all about the small business experiences young entrepreneurs across America have gained, whether personally or from observing family members working to make a way for themselves. Three deserving individuals will win a $1,500 scholarship, to use toward furthering their education at the college or university of their choice. Each student must submit an original essay (500-1,000 words) about how small business ownership (personal, parent, grandparent, or legal guardian) has shaped you into the person you are today. The essay must have a title and be written in English. Essays with fewer than 500 words or more than 1,000 words will be disqualified.
Number of awards offered: Three scholarships are available.
What does it cover? Three deserving individuals will win a $1,500 scholarship to use toward furthering their education at the college or university of their choice.
Selection Criteria: A panel of judges will review the applications. Essays will be judged on the following criteria:
-33 1/3% – effectiveness, insightfulness, creativity and completeness
-33 1/3% – organization and development of the ideas expressed, with clear and appropriate examples to support them
-33 1/3% – consistency in the use of language, variety in sentence structure and range of vocabulary, use of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Notification: Winners will be announced on June 3, 2013, via Facebook. Winners will also be notified via email on June 3, 2013.
