Danish Government Long-Term Scholarships for International Students in Denmark, 2018-2019

Danish Government is now accepting applications for Long-Term scholarships in 2018 academic year.  Scholarships are only available to master’s and PhD-level students. However, bachelor’s degree students wishing to study Danish language and literature can also apply if they have studied the Danish language for two years.

The Danish Government Scholarships under the Cultural Agreements are aimed at highly qualified exchange students wishing to immerse themselves in studies of the Danish language and culture or other fields of study related to Denmark.

The Ministry aims to create knowledge, growth and welfare in Denmark as it takes its place in an increasingly globalised world. The Ministry’s vision is to create the best possible conditions for research, study and innovation in Europe.

Scholarships are only available to master’s and PhD-level students. Some universities have other requirements regarding proof of proficiency in English, such as the TOEFL test or IELTS test. Please ask the Danish university where they wish to study about requirements and enclose the applicable documentation in their application. The Certificate of Proficiency in English, TOEFL test, or IELTS test should be filled out and signed by the relevant authority or language school at the institution in their home country.

Course Level: Scholarships are only available to master’s and PhD-level students. However, bachelor’s degree students wishing to study Danish language and literature can also apply if they have studied the Danish language for two years.

Study Subject(s): Scholarships are aimed at highly qualified exchange students wishing to immerse themselves in studies of the Danish language and culture or other fields of study related to Denmark.

Scholarship Award: It includes:

  • Scholarships include free tuition and a monthly stipend of DKK 6,500.
  • Some Danish higher education institutions may choose to charge a fee in conjunction with ph.d. courses.
  • Danish Government Scholarships can be used to cover travel, visa, accommodation, food, and other living expenses. The scholarships are for one person only. Additional amounts for accompanying family members are not available.
  • Participants may be liable to pay tax on their scholarship in the Kingdom of Denmark. Therefore, scholarship recipients should contact the local tax authorities for an individual assessment. In the event that the Danish tax authorities decide that a scholarship is taxable, the Agency for Science and Higher Education has no power to overturn the decision.

Scholarship can be taken in Denmark

Eligibility: To be eligible for these scholarships applicants must:

Scholarships are offered to exchange students and young research scientists from higher education institutions in the following countries: China, Japan, Israel, Egypt and Russia.

Nationality: Students from China, Japan, Israel, Egypt and Russia can apply for these Danish Government scholarships.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Scholarships are only available to master’s and PhD-level students.

English Language Requirements: Danish is the normal language of instruction at institutions of higher education in Denmark, but more and more institutions offer courses in English or in another foreign language or have special arrangements for non-Danish students.

How to Apply: Download the application form, complete, and submit it and all the required documents – including the Certificate of Proficiency in English.  Please enclose the following documents: Curriculum vitae signed and dated by applicants

  • Curriculum vitae signed and dated by applicants
  • Translated and certified copies of applicants diplomas
  • Detailed programme for study/research period in Denmark or Statement of Interest
  • Certificate of proficiency in English

Application Deadline: The application deadline for the 2018/19 academic year is March 1, 2018.
