2016 University of Newcastle PhD Scholarship in Violence and Colonialism, Australia

University of Newcastle is offering a PhD scholarship for a student investigates Violence on the Colonial Frontier under the supervision of Professor Lyndall Ryan. Both international and Australian applicants will be considered. Eligibility: Both international and Australian applicants will be considered. Prospective PhD applicants should have completed the equivalent of a BA (Hons), MPhil or other two-year Masters degree in History, including a major research component with excellent results.

Scholarship Description: A PhD scholarship is available for a student investigate Violence on the Colonial Frontier under the supervision of Professor Lyndall Ryan. Prospective candidates are invited to submit a topic that will complement the project ‘Intimacy and Violence in Anglo Pacific Rim Colonial Societies, 1830-1930’ in the Centre for the History of Violence at the University of Newcastle. Topics on colonial violence or frontier colonial violence are welcomed. The candidate will be supervised by Professor Lyndall Ryan with input from Professor Philip Dwyer.
