PhD Student Positions in Automatic Control
The Automatic Control Laboratory at the School of Electrical Engineering, KTH, invites
applications for up to 6 PhD student positions.
???? Control of communication networks
???? Control of networked computer systems
???? Control over wireless networks
???? Monitoring and fault detection
???? System identification and experiment design
???? Model approximation and reduction
The laboratory has major research efforts in networked control systems and control of
communication and multi-agent networks through EU projects and projects supported by the
Swedish Research Council (VR), Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems
(VINNOVA), and Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF), including the Linnaeus Center
ACCESS (Autonomic Complex Communication Networks, Signals and Systems).
We have strong competence in basic research in modeling, identification and control, where we are
looking for PhD candidates with an interest in mathematics, estimation and control theory for our
VR projects in this area.
As a PhD student in the Automatic Control Laboratory you will work in a young and dynamic
research environment with an extensive international network. The research group focuses on
developing future generations of networked control and sensor systems within several national and
European research projects. It has also a strong theoretical competence in modeling, identification,
detection and control. The laboratory is a partner of the Centre for Autonomous Systems at KTH,
which focuses on robotic research in a broad sense. External collaborators include UC Berkeley,
Caltech, ETH and Stanford, as well as GM, ABB, Ericsson, FOI and Scania. The research is
interdisciplinary, and involves both theoretical and practical challenges.
Qualifications
We seek highly motivated individuals holding an MSc degree in electrical engineering, engineering
physics, computer science or similar. The candidates should have excellent grades and very good
skills in oral and written communication. They should be ready to contribute to a scientific research
area of major importance for Swedish industry and society in general. The positions include up to
twenty percent teaching at undergraduate level.
