MASTER’S THESIS ABSTRACT (EXECUTIVE SUMMARY)
Daka, T. Hatia(2008). The Impact of African, Missionary and Orthodox Traditions On the Ethiopian Evangelical Churches
Based on recurring critiques on the leadership of the Ethiopian Evangelical Churches (EEC), research was conducted to find out what forces are impacting EEC. The results showed that the churches of Ethiopia are highly influenced by (a) the African/Ethiopian Traditions (AET), (b) the Missionary Traditions (MT), and (c) the Ethiopian Orthodox Church’s Traditions (EOCT). Traditions – according to this project’s definition – means inherited church practices. The research’s explicit discovery, informed us that most of those traditions adopted by EEC are selectively weaknesses rather than strengths!
The outcomes of these inherited – the inherited fashion of the ‘great-men’ leadership tendency of EEC – is predicted to bring (a) great organizational conflicts, (b) great denominational disintegration, and (c) increased government interference in religious comfort-zones. Because of these main reasons, this research focuses on examining the leadership environments surrounding EEC, and contributes extensive contextual applications that would assist churches to make a momentous breakthrough in this field.
This research gathers and provides information from various sources – from both inside and outside circles of the church – according to their significance in relation to the subject matter. The intention of this is to facilitate more points that elevate strategic thinking, or critical thinking.
This project answers questions on (a) understanding the EEC leadership in its norm, as a foundation for strategising change, (b) contextualising the Servant Leadership model into the existing norm, and finally, (c) theologising leadership appropriately for Ethiopia.

I am Yegnanew Alem from Ethiopia. I possessed B.ED in physics, minor Mathematics, in 2002 and M.Sc. in Applied Statistics in 2008 from Addis Ababa University. I am lecturer at Hawassa University in the department of Applied statistics.
I want to pursue MSc/PhD in one of the following fields:
•I have great interest in research in the area of Econometrics Statistics (since I have done a research paper on “a comparative simulation study of the heteroscedasticity consistent covariance matrix estimators in the linear regression model”)
•Statistics for Climate Change Policies in Sub-Sahara Africa (Environmental Policies are nowadays facing the new challenge of climate change. On the one hand the implementation of sophisticated environmental statistics for evidence-based policy making remains still unaccomplished in many countries.)
•Economics, Educational Measurement (I have taken different education courses) and Agriculture (since agriculture is the back bone of our country, the status of our economy, food security and demography variables i.e fertility, migration and death/ mortality depend on agriculture because of this, there are different issues/ problems that open to research/invite researchers).
with best regard,
Yegnanew
