Academic Scholarships for OSU, 2018-2019

At this page, we have compiled a list of available scholarships for OSU. OSU that stands for Ohio State University offers numerous institutional scholarships for incoming freshmen and enrolled students. There is also a wide range of scholarships available at OSU from external donors and outside resources. These scholarships have various awarding criteria. So we can classify all scholarships for OSU into two categories i.e. University Administered Scholarships and Non-University Aid (External Awards). The priority application deadline will be in January and for FAFSA will be in February for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Merit-Based Scholarships:

These scholarships are awarded to incoming freshman students in order to attract the best and brightest in academic talents and achievements. Renewals for these merit scholarships are automatic as long as the recipient remains eligible (the recipient maintains a 3.2 or higher GPA) and is enrolled full-time. The following types of merit scholarships are available as follows:
-Eminence Scholarship includes the full cost of attendance at Ohio State for four years, plus a $3,000 enrichment grant accessible after the first year of successful study. Recipients of the Eminence Scholarship typically rank in the top three percent of their graduating classes and have an ACT composite score of 34 or higher or combined SAT Critical Reading and Math score of 1520 or higher.
-Morrill Scholars Program (MSP) is available for exceptional high school seniors who are ambassadors of diversity in their schools or communities and promote cross-cultural relationships among their peers. This further includes three types of scholarships i.e. Distinction Scholarship for both Ohio residents and nonresidents; Prominence Scholarship to nonresidents and Excellence Scholarship to Ohio residents.
-Maximus Scholarship of $6,000 ($24,000 four-year value) is available to those students who are ranked in the top three percent of their graduating classes and have ACT composite scores of 32 or higher or combined SAT Critical Reading and Math scores of 1420 or higher.
-Provost Scholarship of $3,000 ($12,000 four-year value) is awarded to students who are ranked in the top 10 percent of their graduating classes and have ACT composite scores of 29 or higher or combined SAT Critical Reading and Math scores of 1300 or higher.
-Trustees Scholarship of $2,000 ($8,000 four-year value) is awarded to students who are ranked in the top 20 percent of their graduating classes and have ACT composite scores of 28 or higher or combined SAT Critical Reading and Math scores of 1260 or higher.
-Academic Achievement Scholarship of $1,000 ($4,000 four-year value) is available to students who are ranked in the top 10 percent of their graduating classes and have ACT composite scores of 27 or higher or combined SAT Critical Reading and Math scores of 1220 or higher.
-National Buckeye Scholarship of $12,000 ($48,000 four–year value) is awarded for non-Ohio domestic freshmen admitted to the Columbus campus for an autumn semester.
-International Undergraduate Scholarship of $4,000 ($16,000 four–year value) is offered on a competitive basis to qualified full-time international freshmen admitted to the Columbus campus for an autumn semester.
-Land Grant Opportunity Scholarship is available for at least one student from each of Ohio’s 88 counties who demonstrates academic talented and financial need.
-Cooperative Scholarship Housing programs are available to participate in governing, managing or maintaining their residence halls in exchange for a reduced cost of living on campus.

Other Scholarships:

Apart from above scholarships, there are also other scholarships available which are as follows:
-Hundreds of Special-Eligibility Scholarships with specific eligibility requirements are available. Note that most special eligibility-scholarships require the FAFSA and a personal statement.
-Departmental scholarships are available to students who excel academically and/or have financial need. Students, who are interested in a particular major, can apply for these scholarships.
-Regional campus/ATI scholarships are awarded to students attending the regional and ATI campuses as well as the Columbus campus.
-Office of Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship Programs include a range of scholarships for African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, and Ohio Appalachian students
-STEP (Second-Year Transformational Experience Program) Fellowship of $2,000 will initially be referenced as a resource for an autumn semester only. The fellowship will be available to students to support the completion of their project during the year after their STEP participation.

Non-University Aid (External Awards):

There are various external scholarships available that may be awarded through churches, professional, civic, or service organizations, private foundations, the military, etc. The total aid a student can receive annually cannot exceed the cost of attendance at Ohio State. Estimated Financial Assistance includes any educational benefits paid because of enrollment in postsecondary education, such as Pell Grant; Unsubsidized and subsidized Stafford and PLUS loans (Federal Family Education Loans and Direct Loans); Long-term loans made by the school, including Federal Perkins Loans (short-term emergency loans are not considered to be Estimated Financial Assistance); Grants, including Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOGs), state grants, and Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) living allowances; Scholarships, including athletic scholarships and ROTC scholarships, and scholarships that require future employment but are given in the current year; Waivers of tuition and fees; Fellowships or assistantships; Income from insurance programs that pay for the student’s education; Net income from need-based employment and AmeriCorps funds.

With its main campus in Columbus, OSU now also has regional campuses in Lima, Mansfield, Marion, Newark, and Wooster. And students can get these scholarships in any of these campuses. So, just go through the above links and secure a scholarship for next academic session.
