Recent graduates (within two years) are also welcome to apply. AP does not offer paid internships. However, they do insist interns be able to take their internships for college credit. Hands-on experience writing and news gathering for both our print and online platforms.
• Copyediting and fact-checking duties (knowledge of AP Style is a plus).
• Working with high-profile musicians and music industry professionals.
MARKETING >>>
A sample of duties and requirements:
• Writing and publishing posts to AltPress social networks
• Knowledge and experience working with social media publishing and analytics tools for brands
• Research marketing tools and stay up-to-date on marketing/social media trends
• Work directly with Marketing Department on campaigns
• Assist with managing nationwide street team
• Maintain shared calendar with all marketing objectives
• Respond to customer service inquiries on social networks
• Must have advanced knowledge of social networks: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Snapchat, Vine, etc.

• Must have good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. Basic HTML knowledge needed. Any programming/scripting/CSS skills a plus.

ADVERTISING >>>

• Assist with client and market research
• Solicit and secure new small business advertising accounts
• Assist with a variety of advertising department tasks daily
MERCHANDISE INTERN >>>
For school credit in the following areas of study: Marketing, Sales, Merchandising, or Business Management. Knowledge of the following:
• Apple operation system
• Microsoft Office suite
• Basic data entry
• Basic accounting
• Must also be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Internship Description: Alternative Press Media is looking for motivated and creative editorial, marketing, production and advertising interns to join our staff this summer. AP is celebrating its 31st year as a media company, and has expanded from its long-established print brand into concert series, touring, events (Alternative Press Music Awards, Vans Warped Tour, etc). Interns will receive hands-on experience at the forefront of alternative music and youth culture. Passionate voices are welcomed and essential here. AP crosses several formats, with print, digital, video and online editions, and maintains a thriving social media presence.

Internship Duration:Internships can last as long as necessary within those parameters to meet individual internship requirements. AP does not schedule interns for more than 20 hours a week. Days, hours and shifts are all flexible, depending on their school’s internship requirements and the departments’ needs.
