The City of Amsterdam Scholarship

The Amsterdam Business School (ABS) offers an inspiring, broadly oriented and thoroughly international academic environment where both staff members and students can develop their capacities to optimum effect. It stimulates an open-minded and tolerant attitude with a strong engagement between business and society.
In particular the ABS wants to emphasise the synergies between its strengths and those of the City of Amsterdam: a cosmopolitan centre of business, culture and tolerance that many students cite as one of the reasons they chose the ABS.

To further highlight the connection between Amsterdam and the ABS, the City of Amsterdam Scholarship has been established. This scholarship, with a total value of € 25,000, will be awarded to a student of our MBA programme based on need and merit. The Amsterdam MBA at the ABS is an international programme both in the composition of  its student body and staff as well as in its curriculum. It aims to give students a high-quality business and management education, enabling them to develop into effective leaders: internationally oriented with a strong understanding of the importance of a genuine personal approach.

Job Cohen, the mayor of Amsterdam, will present the first City of Amsterdam Scholarship to a promising MBA student on Tuesday, 16 September.

The Amsterdam MBA is looking for students who feel the programme represents a challenge and a good career-fit. The programme has been designed for ambitious professionals and academics who wish to pursue a career in the international business world. The Amsterdam MBA has a strong international focus and participants will come from many different cultural backgrounds. Full-time students will focus on studying for a year while part-time students continue to work, thus bringing in their expertise of day-to-day professional life. Students are expected to work in senior management levels after graduation.

The planned intake for September 2008 is around thirty students. A strict selection procedure will be applied in order to ensure that top quality students will enter the programme. The Amsterdam MBA aims at a highly international student body with two things in common: the ambition and capability to pursue a challenging business degree.
