Scholarship Description: This Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) is associated with an Australian Research Council Linkage Project with Roche Pharmaceuticals to design efficient and robust phase I clinical trials. The successful applicant is expected to hold an Honours 1 (or equivalent) degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or other relevant or related field with a heavy quantitative element. Both local and overseas residents may apply and considerations may be given to local applicants who have an Honours 2A degree in Statistics or Mathematics with appropriate postgraduate research experience and/or good knowledge required to undertake the project.

This scholarship is offered once only to one suitable candidate. The scholarship is open for applications until July 31, 2010.

Payment Information:

The value of this scholarship is AU$27,222 (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 years.

Research Information

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: Statistics. It is required that your study starts no earlier than August 1, 2010 and no later than August 31, 2010

Eligibility :

This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved a first-class honours degree or a strong master’s degree, in Statistics, Mathematics, or other relevant or related field with a heavy quantitative element. Candidates with an upper second-class honours degree, or its equivalent, may also apply.

Applications for the scholarship should comprise a curriculum vitae, transcript of academic results, and a statement of interest in the proposed research and capabilities to carry out the study. Candidates will need to satisfy standard entry requirements for the PhD program at QUT prior to any firm offer of a scholarship. Applicants will need to apply using normal QUT procedures. It is recommended that the application for admission be made after the application for a scholarship, upon receipt of a conditional funding offer.
