Eligibility: ASF and KFOC are interested in providing funding to young investigators as well as attracting experienced investigators to the field of Alport Syndrome basic science or clinical research. There are no geographical limitations of this funding.

Scholarship Description: The Alport Syndrome Foundation, Inc. (ASF) and the Kidney Foundation of Canada (KFOC) are pleased to announce the availability of funding for basic science and clinical research on the natural history, biochemical basis, and treatment of Alport Syndrome. There are no geographical limitations of this funding. The objective of this research funding program is to advance the knowledge of, develop effective treatment protocols for and discover a cure for Alport Syndrome Foundation.

Number of award(s): Based on the input from the review committee and outside reviewers, two research applications will be funded.

What does it cover? ASF and KFOC anticipate funding two research projects totaling $100,000 each over a one- to two-year timeframe.

Notification: Successful applicants will be notified in May 2013 in accordance with the ASF Macquarie KFOC Research Funding Program.

How to Apply: Applications should be of 10–15 pages in length and must follow the instructions of the ASF Macquarie KFOC Research Funding Program. In general terms, detailed information about the specific aims, significance, research design and methods, personnel, facilities, and budget will be required, along with evidence of application to the relevant Institutional Review Board for any work involving human subjects or to the Animal Use and Protection Committee for any work involving animal subjects.

Scholarship Application Deadline: The deadline for submission of completed research funding applications is March 1, 2013.
