Position Description
Postdoctoral Fellow with emphasis on Assessment and Clinical Services: Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), University of Houston. The position will commence August 17, 2009 and end August 16, 2010. Responsibilities include providing: (1) assessments in Learning Disabilities and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder,(2)individual, couples and group psychotherapy, 3) crisis intervention, 4) campus and community outreach/consultation, 5) supervision; and other duties as assigned. Candidates must hold a completed doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology.

University of Houston consists of 13 colleges and professional schools. Located near downtown Houston, the attractive campus has 36,104 students and 2,031 faculty. Some 4,385 students are housed on campus. The University is one of the most ethnically diverse campuses in the nation, with roughly 13.5% African-Americans, 19.9% Hispanics, 19.8% Asian Americans, 35.7% Caucasians, 8.2%International, 0.3% Native Americans, and 2.6% unknown. Over half are female and there is a wide distribution by age. Houston is the fourth largest U.S. city, boasting the Texas Medical Center, extensive cultural and recreational opportunities, as well as professional sports. Salary is $38,851.56 per year with full staff fringe benefits. The successful candidate will have: 1) an interest in assessment and experience with WAIS-III/WAIS-IV, Woodcock-Johnson-III, MMPI-2 or PAI, 2) an interest in working with ethnically or otherwise diverse populations; and 3) familiarity working from a time-limited therapy model.
