MQRES Modelling Climate Change Impacts on Australian Forests PhD Scholarship
Scholarship Description

A PhD scholarship is available at Division of ELS to (a) investigate experimentally the impacts of CO2 and water availability on Australian forest species; and (b) to use this information to develop ecophysiologically-based models of climate change impacts on Australian forests over the next century. Australian forests provide a range of ecosystem services, such as wood production, carbon sequestration and protection of water catchments. Climate change is highly likely to modify how forests function, and land managers urgently need information about how these ecosystem services will be affected. MQRES scholarships are available to Australian and international students. Applicants should have an Australian first class honours undergraduate degree, or equivalent (Masters with research component) with a background in plant physiology or plant ecology and a strong numerical aptitude. International students will receive tuition and compulsory health cover for the scholarship tenure.

Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is AUD20007 (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 and a half years.

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: Botany, EARTH SCIENCES, Ecology and evolution, Other earth sciences, Physiology or SCIENCE – GENERAL.
Eligibility

This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent. There are no restrictions on citizenship.
