Australian Prime Ministers Centre (APMC) Fellowships in Australia, 2014/2015

Applications are invited for Australian Prime Ministers Centre (APMC) research fellowships for a research project which fits with the rationale of the Australian Prime Ministers Centre research program. Researchers and creative artists who have scholarly credentials, preferably at postgraduate level, or a record of equivalent achievement in their field and are based in Australia during the year of the fellowship are eligible to apply. APMC Fellows undertake the fellowship in the period July 2014 – June 2015. They have to spend a minimum of 10 business days based at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House during their fellowship.

Eligibility: Applications are sought from established researchers and creative artists who-
-want to propose a research project which fits with the rationale of the Australian Prime Ministers Centre research program.
-have scholarly credentials, preferably at postgraduate level, or a record of equivalent achievement in their field
-are based in Australia during the year of the fellowship (2014 -15).
however
-current postgraduate students (at time of application) are not eligible for fellowships, but may apply for summer scholarships.
-staff of the Museum of Australian Democracy are not eligible to apply for fellowships.
-previous recipients of APMC Fellowships may apply for a new APMC Fellowship for a different research project or consider applying for an APMC Honorary Fellowship.

Scholarship Description: The Australian Prime Ministers Centre (APMC) research and scholarship program
-supports the achievement of the vision and purpose of the APMC and, through that, the outcomes of the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House; and
-builds knowledge about and engagement with prime ministers and political leadership in areas relevant to the research focus of the Centre.

Duration of award(s): APMC Fellows undertake the fellowship in the period July 2014 – June 2015. They have to spend a minimum of 10 business days based at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House during their fellowship?

What does it cover? Fellows: 
-can apply for a payment of up to $11 000 (GST inc) to support travel and accommodation while undertaking research, a research allowance when fully engaged in Fellowship research, research expenses such as photocopying and production costs for creative projects
-receive in-kind support at the APMC including access to office accommodation, collections and specialist expertise
-are to acknowledge the support of the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House in the public outcomes of the research supported by the APMC.

Selection Criteria: In assessing an application the museum will take into account:
-the relevance and significance of the research proposal, in the context of the rationale of the APMC research program
-the capacity of the applicant to deliver the outcomes of their research proposal
-the appropriateness of the proposed budget
When making an offer of an APMC Fellowship, the museum reserves the right to negotiate changes to the research proposal and/or the budget.

Notification: Applications will be assessed by the museum during July 2014, with applicants advised of the outcome in August 2014.

-Research proposal
-Research budget (download the budget template)
-Curriculum vitae
-Two written references (download the referee report)
References should be signed by both the applicant and the referee, or include the email trail. References should also include contact details for referees (telephone and email address)
An electronic copy should also be sent to apmc-at-moadoph.gov.au.
