Australian Rotary Health invites applications from individuals holding a PhD looking to build a research career in the area of MENTAL HEALTH for the COLIN DODDS POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP.  This fellowship may be held in any University Department or Research Institute undertaking relevant research.

The specific aims of the Colin Dodds Postdoctoral Fellowship are:

  • To develop and support an Australian Postdoctoral scientist with a strong commitment to research in mental health.
  • To develop research capacity in the field of mental health.

Colin Dodds (27 Feb 1926 – 5 Dec 2005) – Chairman of the Australian Rotary Health Board (1991-1993) A charter member of the Rotary Club of Concord, NSW in 1956, Colin served his club respectively as secretary, vice president and president. An enthusiastic Rotarian, he served in several District appointments before being elected to serve as 9690 District governor in 1980-81. Appointments at the Australian Rotary Institute preceded his election to the ARHRF board of Directors in 1986. Colin was ARHRF’s NSW state co-ordinator in 1989, vice-chairman in 1988-1990 and chaired the board from 1991-1993. He retired in 1994 as a Gold Companion and a Life Member of the Fund. He was a true friend of the Fund and will be sadly missed.

Applicants must be available to attend an interview in Sydney, on Wednesday 13th or Thursday 14th October 2010.

  • The original plus six copies of  (i) the typed application, (ii) academic transcript and (iii) curriculum vitae should be sent by mail (DO NOT send your application by fax or e-mail) to Australian Rotary Health, through the Administrative Officer of your Institution. Late applications will not be considered.
  • The fellowship applicant is also to be responsible for the receipt of THREE academic referees reports to Australian Rotary Health by the due date of the application.
  • The closing date for applications is Friday 13th August 2010.
