Technician position for transgenic/knock-out mice.
Technician position is available at the Medical University Innsbruck, Austria, for the transgenic/knock-out unit of the University.
The work involves the generation of transgenic and knock-out mice for diverse projects, laboratories and investigators of the Medical University Innsbruck and their collaborations abroad. Also, the rederivation of mice to Specific-Pathogen-Free (SPF) status, and the development of technologies such as in vitro fertilization, intracytoplasmic sperm injection and cryopreservation of sperm and embryos.
Experience in working with mice is necessary and experience in any of the above techniques is highly appreciated. Complete or partial training will be provided as necessary. The technician will additionally take care of mouse colonies related to this work and mouse lines produced, and of the overall maintenance of the unit and its smooth functioning. Some laboratory work will also be part of the duties involved, preparing media and reagents necessary for the work, as well as screening of mice for integration of the transgenes.
The position is available immediately and is for at least 4 years.
