o    Storage and leakage
o    Vehicle range
o    Engine efficiency
o    Minimising emission of GHGs and other pollutants
Safety and Intelligent Vehicle Systems

•New crash avoidance systems
Materials and Sustainable Manufacturing
•Effectiveness of alternative models for managing manufacturing emissions and waste
•Behaviours of non-ferrous metals
•Virtual manufacturing – automating design for assembly
•Virtual manufacturing – supply chain analysis Electric Vehicles and Powertrains
•Battery technology
•In-wheel motor technology
•Brushless DC motors
•Modular low-cost conversion systems for existing fleet

Social/Policy issues
•What will the personal mobility needs of Australians be like by 2015? What are the business opportunities that arise from this?
•What are the social or technological factors that can change behaviours in relation to transport use – increasing efficiencies (traffic management, car pooling) and decreasing energy consumption?
• What is the most appropriate mix of transport fuels for use in Australia and what the specific barriers that prevent Australia from using optimal transport fuels?

AutoCRC will accept quality research proposals outside of the above topics but related to the broad research themes.
AutoCRC will allocate funding upon the basis of submission of high quality research proposals that have the potential of making a positive impact on the Australian automotive industry.

Scholarships are offered on the basis that the student and the University agree to the conditions set out at http://www.autocrc.com/edutrain-postgraduate.htm and that international students must receive a fee waiver or university scholarship worth $10,000pa or more.

Please note that AutoCRC is unable to award scholarships to students who hold an APA(I) award, or students involved in research funded by the ARC.

o    Relevance of the proposed research to AutoCRC’s research aims
o    Quality of the researcher or research group
o    Quality of the research proposal – methodology etc..
