Bernice Murray Scholarship for International Students 2011
Job Description: The Bernice Murray Scholarship Foundation was created by U.S. Senator James Jeffords, along with family and friends of Bernice Murray, long-time aide to Senator Jeffords. The scholarship was established to honor her unselfish contributions to improving the lives of Vermonters. The aim of the foundation is to make a difference in the lives of Vermont families, as Bernice Murray helped make a positive difference in the lives of so many human beings during her short life.
Eligibility:
• Attend an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding
(Pell grants, Stafford loans, PLUS loans)
• Be a single parent with primary custody of at least one child 12 years
of age or younger
• Demonstrate financial need
Students do not have to be the overachiever in class to qualify for a scholarship. Many scholarships for average students are funded by people that began their adult life labeled as average. These people know what it is like to not be able to afford a solid education and to not have the grades to get an academic scholarship. So, they have created scholarships that students can qualify for in other areas. These areas can include sports, community service, or even artistic abilities. There are several different areas that these average Joe scholarships focus on, other than just grades.
