Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme for Commonwealth Developing Countries, 2011 UK

Subject: Economic, Social, Technology related subjects
Country: UK
Eligibility: a. be nationals of (or permanently domiciled in) a Commonwealth developing country, and not currently be living or studying in a developed country (please see the booklet for a list of eligible countries)
b. hold a first degree at either first or upper second class level;
c . be sufficiently fluent in English to pursue the course
d. have not previously studied for one year or more in a developed country
e. not be employed by a government department (for this purpose the Commission counts this as being employed by a Government Ministry).
f. be able to confirm in writing that neither they or their families would otherwise be able to pay for the proposed course of study
g. be willing to confirm that they will return to their home country as soon as their period of study is complete

2011 Postgraduate Scholarships for Applicants from Developing Countries, University of Nottingham, UK

One full tuition fee scholarship is also available for a student from Africa for the MSc in Crop Improvement in the School of Biosciences.

2011 One World Scholarship Program for Applicants from Developing Countries at Austrian Universities, Austria

HEC-EGIDE/ Eiffel MBA Scholarships for Developing Countries

Special Research Funds for PhD Students from Developing Countries, Belgium

Eligibility: Candidates need to come from – and have the nationality of – a developing country. This program is limited to universities and research centers in developing countries with which Ghent University is already cooperating or has cooperated in the last 5 years. It is the Ghent University promoter who has to present evidence of this cooperation. A signed cooperation agreement is no necessity at the moment of the application for the scholarship but will be required when the scholarship is granted. There must be a guarantee that the candidate will be able to work on the PhD project at the partner university. This implies that there must be a local PhD supervisor at the partner university or research center. Also a written statement is requested from that supervisor or the university authorities stating that the candidate is either a student or a staff member of this university and will be sufficiently exempted from teaching or other assignments as to be able to fully concentrate on the PhD research. This statement should also mention that the candidate receives/received a local scholarship or salary when working on the PhD in the home institute.

University of Manchester Equity and Merit Scholarships for Bangladeshi Students 2011/2012, UK

TWAS-CONACYT Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme for developing countries, Mexico

Eligibility: Applicants for these Fellowships must meet the following criteria: Be a maximum age of 40 years on 31 December of the year of application. Be nationals of a developing country (other than Mexico). Hold a PhD degree in a field of the natural sciences. Be regularly employed in a developing country (other than Mexico) and hold a research assignment there. Provide an official Acceptance Letter from the host institution from an eligible institution in Mexico. Only listed higher education institutions in Mexico are eligible (see point 2 above). A sample Acceptance Letter is included in the application form which can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of the page unter “related content”. Prove knowledge of Spanish or provide a certificate of proficiency in English (if these languages are not the candidate’s mother tongue).
