UNCF Scholarships Fund Program 2012 – United Negro College Fund
“A mind is terrible thing to waste” and with this motto UNCF has been working tirelessly in helping students in accomplishing their dreams of gaining higher education.
Every year UNCF awards scholarships to over 10000 students through more than 400 scholarship, internship,fellowship and institutional grants.
The UNCF scholarship program especially targets families with low to moderate income group with high academic performances shown before. Further UNCF member colleges comprise the network of around 38 black colleges and Universities. To all these colleges UNCF provide scholarships, educational resources and other institutional support. Thus, enable these institutions to help students in achieving their goals. Apart from theses institutions, UNCF also support minority students at other schools also.
Gates Millennium Scholars program is available to students entering college for first time. The application process for fall 2012 is open now. The deadline for the same is 11 January 2012. These are also given to undergraduate and doctoral students on the basis of academic performance, whose rates are basically between 80-90 percent.
UNCF/ Merck Initiative– Through this initiative fund tends to help undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral students in the field of biological, chemical and engineering sciences to pursue their studies and research. These scholarships are especially targeted to African American students. It further includes Science Research Scholarship Award for undergraduate students, Science Research dissertation scholarship Fellowships for graduate students and Science Research Fellowship in Postdoctoral. Every year around 550 students get advantage through these scholarships.
Further it also includes UNCF corporate research program. These programs provide scholarships to students along with the opportunities to work in reputed organizations and companies of United States. This program further includes various internship programs which vary with eligibility criteria accordingly.
Apart from these programs, there are also other co funded programs for Junior, Senior, College sophomores and undergraduate and postgraduate students like AT&T Foundation Scholarship 2012-13, Ronald H. Brown Summer Law School Prep Program 2012, MCCA Lloyd M. Johnson Jr. Scholarship 2012, Catholic Healthcare West Corporate Scholars Program 2012 and many more. Further, UNCF General Scholarship Program is specifically for those candidates who are attending to UNCF institutions.
With this numerous scholarships provided by UNCF, the fund has been contributing a lot in promoting minority education in America and thus helping aspiring students to fulfill their dreams and brighten their future.
