Charles Darwin University Alumni ScholarshipThe Charles Darwin University Alumni Scholarship has been established to assist and encourage Alumni members and their families to study at Charles Darwin University (CDU).
Charles Darwin University’s Alumni has been set up to support and promote the interests of our graduates, and to foster an environment where members can contribute to the future of the University. The Alumni provides a professional and social connection for all people who have
contributed to Charles Darwin University, whether as a student, staff member or friend of the University or one of its predecessors.
The aim of the Charles Darwin University Alumni Scholarship is to encourage new students who
have an immediate family member who is a member of Charles Darwin University’s Alumni to study
at CDU. The value of the Scholarship is a maximum of $1,000 for one year for a full-time student,
to be paid in Semester 1 subject to confirmation of enrolment in Semester 2.
Eligibility
The successful applicant will:
• have applied to study at Charles Darwin University in a Higher Education course in 2008;
• be a sibling or child of a member of Charles Darwin University’s Alumni who is also a graduate
of Charles Darwin University or one of it’s predecessors; and
• have an appropriate academic record.

Being a student who leaves in somalia recently gratuated from secondary school and could not find a financial support for university expensenses ; i need your help for scholarship
first of all, my name is Mohammed Ahmed Mohamud, I am Somali, I live in Asmara Eritrea I came here September, 10, 2006 under UNHCR office in Eritrea as a refugee, because of very serious and heavy war between Somali warlords and Islamic courts so at that time I could not stay and survive there, then I left my country passing along the road from Mogadishu to Djibouti then to Eritrea till know I am living here Eritrea, as a refugee and I am looking for good chance to Improve my education and my life career on the other hand to tell you something about my age I was born. 19, august, 1983 in Mogadishu, Somalia I grew up in Somalia.
Once in 1991 when my country broke out the civil war me and my family we went to Kenya as a refugee we were living there up to 1995 then we came back to Somalia especially in Kismio, their I have studied my Elementary and Junior education then I myself went to Mogadishu were I finished my secondary school.
Actually I am very delighted to expand and explain my career and personal goals in the following near future I would like to continue my higher education because I am sure that is the only way I can improve and I can overcome all my personal problems, my real ambition is to study my favorite subject Epidemiology, my main objective of the coming 5 years is to achieve that goal.
I have completed my secondary school 2004 In Somalia with 3.38 GPA sincerely telling my school life was nicely comfortable also I was enjoying being a good student.
In my performance and winning three times the best good conduct student in the school, however I didn’t join university because of financial inability of my family to bear my educational expenses, I couldn’t find any help from the others, so that case keeps me to stay without university but, till now I didn’t fed up my hope of searching higher education opportunity.
Father more, I have been working with UNICEF as volunteer in Mogadishu specially the green gate Youth peer, for the case of IDPs I have been collaborating with that people in 2005 and earlier 2006 but I have never been involved extracurricular studies since I couldn’t afford it.
I certainly say that I am one of the victims, the war going on in my country and I didn’t received what was my rights while its international or national so I am applying this chance as the best chance of mine my hope is to create a new method of highly motivated with willing and combination of ambitions I thing I will have one more weapon with which I will attack the cycle of the poverty, this kind of scholarship will encourage the poor and the brilliant students among all the continents. I am sure that I have the potential to overcome if I would have this opportunity of scholarship.
To sum up my root idea of financial support that I need is the same like what they need the other students who got the opportunity of this scholarship, not more than student’s requirement however I am sure, I would use the least required payment as possible as you allowed for me, towards direct tuition institutional fees and material studies the cost of food, accommodation local transportation and all other personal expenses.
Finally I would like to say, I would maintain full workload of courses if I would have this scholarship, in conclusion I am eagerly to say should I be fortunate to be selected to the scholarship; actually I will use my best endeavor to merit your confidence by hard work and devotion to my studies.

Let me introduce you myself first. My name is Birhanu Desalegn Mihretie who graduated from Jimma University Faculty of law, Ethiopia in LL.B (first degree in law) on 05 July 2007. Now I am working & giving the public service in the Ministry of Transport & Communications as a legal expert starting from December 11 2007 to date. My responsibilities among others is; drafting laws & contract documents, giving consultancy service to the ministry works, representing the ministry when it is sued & sues,& conducting various legal researches concerning the institution. To deliver & perform my responsibility fully to the rate that my country expected & to participate in the development endeavors of my country by making myself part of the solution I need further education. Hence it is my firm motive to study my LL.M (second degree in law)
Though I am interested & able to learn I can’t do this because of my incapacity to pay for the program as I am from Ethiopia which is one from the least developed countries. As a result of this I am forced to turn my face to the international scholarship programs both for my learning as well as living expenses.
