Chinese Government Scholarships 2008  
The PRC Ministry of Education has generously provided 5 scholarships annually for South African students to study in the PRC. With support from the South African Department of Education, the CCS is active in marketing this opportunity to South African students and selecting future candidate students.

It is imperative that students be selected who are representative of South African society from an array of academic disciplines. The CCS has previously selected a number of students for these scholarships who are now studying at Chinese institutions.

The Chinese Government Scholarship includes:

  • Return flight to China
  • Accommodation on the university campus
  • Registration and tuition fees
  • Medical care
  • Basic learning materials
  • Monthly stipend

Applicants must:

  • Be South African
  • Complete an application form for the Chinese Scholarship Council
  • Provide copies of academic transcripts and degree certificates
  • Submit a research motivation of between 200 and 500 words
  • Submit a list of preferred institutions at which to study
  • Provide two letters of reference
  • Provide proof of a full medical examination
