May 9, 2009CIIM MBA and MPSM Scholarships
The Republic of Cyprus is offering up to a total of five (5) full scholarships of 12-months duration to study for the attainment of the Master in Business Administration (MBA) or Master in Public Sector Management (MPSM) title for the academic year 2009-2010.
Eligible candidates to apply for the scholarships to study at the CIIM MBA or MPSM programmes are citizens of Azerbaijan, Gambia, Sudan and Uzbekistan.
Applications received until: 30 June 2009
Application procedure
In order to submit an application for scholarship, the applicant must fill-in the CIIM application form. Along with the CIIM application each candidate must attain an official endorsement by her/his country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs completing the Endorsement Form(detailed instructions on the endorsement procedure are included in the document). The applicants may then submit their applications along with the endorsement form at a Competent Consular Authority of the Republic of Cyprus of their choice, not later than the deadline shown above.
In order to expedite the process, it is strongly recommended that the applicant forwards a copy of the stamped and endorsedapplication to CIIM, as soon as he/she attains the stamp and endorsement by the official government authority (as instructed above). It is noted that ONLY stamped and endorsed applications by the applicant’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be considered for a scholarship award.
Important notes concerning the award of scholarships:
1. Candidates who have received a scholarship of either short or long duration by the Republic of Cyprus within the last two (2) years 2007 or 2008 are NOT eligible to apply for these scholarships.
2. Eligible candidates must be permanent residents of their country of citizenship.
3. All scholarships are offered officially by the Government of the Republic of Cyprus to other Governments on a bilateral basis as official technical assistance and not to individuals. Therefore, it is expected that with the end of the scholarship, the scholarship recipients will return to their country of citizenship so that the recipient country is benefited to the highest possible degree by the transfer of know-how and not just the individual receiving the scholarhsip.
4. For the scholarship to be awarded it is necessary for the candidate to accept the Terms and Conditions of the scholarship.

The Ethiopian economy remains heavily dependent on agriculture, which accounts for about 50 percent of the GDP. An estimated 85% of the population gains its livelihood directly or indirectly from agricultural production. Coffee exports accounts for more than 65 percent of foreign exchange earnings, while processed and semi-processed hides and skins are the second important foreign exchange earners.
The level of development of the manufacturing sector in Ethiopia is at its infancy; and the country’s industrial base is very low. The share of intermediate and capital goods industry is very insignificant. The industrial sector is heavily dependent on imports of semi-processed goods, raw materials, spare -parts and fuel. In addition to imported inputs, the factories depend upon backward and subsistence agriculture for their raw material demand.
It is only fourteen years since Ethiopia began moving from a state run economy to the market economy. The country is in the process of taking various reform measures.
The industries include food processing and beverages, automotive industries which include production of components and parts, textile and textile products and garments, leather and leather products, fertilizers (mini-Plant) and chemicals, drugs and pharmaceuticals are some among others.
The “service” sector which consists of Trade, Transport and Communications, Banking, Insurance and Real State, Public Administration and Defense, Education, Health and Domestic and other personal services has increased
The government has initiated a privatization program since 1995/96. Since this period of time, 85% of 909 factories have been privatized. However the number of manufacturing industries at the verge of the EPRDF led government was 283 operating only 20% of their manufacturing capacity compared with 70% currently.
The government uses different mechanisms to guide the economy on the right track which lead it to the way of development. Among the others, helping the private sector to be the leader in the free market economy is the crucial one. The Development Bank of Ethiopia provides long, medium & short term loan with technical supports for privet sector on behalf of the government.

I am a 24 year old national service person at Cadbury Ghana Ltd. I completed Kwame Nkrumah University Of Science and Technology (K.N.U.S.T). I would be very happy if you could help me get a scholarship to furthur my education in MBA. Thank you.
I am currently a student at the University of Nairobi, Kenya pursuing a bachelors degree in B.A (Land Economics) which is due by mid June, 2009.
I would like to pursue a masters degree in MBA Finance option since i am so much interested in portfolio management having covered property management and valuation/appraisal intensively in my first degree. This possibility is dampened by the fact that I lack the finances to spnser myself for the program since my family was displaced and dispossesed by the political scirmishes that befell the country in 2007/08.
i have a special interest in management of pension funds since they play a big role in reducing dependence rates thus easing the burden the aging population places on the economy especially in developing countries like Kenya. Pension funds if well managed could be a remedy of the housing crises experienced in urban areas through direct or indirect investment in the property market. The approach could be suply or demand oriented depending on the current state of of the problem as well as the legislations and institutions governing management of pension funds, In Kenya for example The Retirement Benefits Authority is maadated with the functions of regulation management of pension funds via the Retirement Benefits Act.
i would appreciate a scholarship in the forementioned program as it would play a great roole towards development of my desired carreer line. Thanks in advance.

Dear Sir/Madam,
After having read all the information about the scholarship, I came into conclusion that it is the opportunity to reveal my abilities and to develop my knowledge and experience. It is not only the issue of studying, but also to learn other nation’s customs and traditions and making friends and to widen the view about the whole world.
In order to have more information about the country itself, I went through wikipedia.org and found very exciting and atrracting facts about it. In my childhood I graduated from Uzbek-Turkish Boys High-School where I studied Turkish. During the last 9 years I rarely have an experience on Turkish and somehow I am forgetting it. It’ll be very usefull for me to make a practice of this language and to learn Greek too. As I graduated from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent city (capital of Uzbekistan) from the Faculty of International Relations, I had a plan before entering this univer to become an ambassador. Maybe, study in Cyprus will open to me new horizons on this way.
All in all, I really want to study on this scholarship and to know the country for my future career!!!
