Computing Merit Scholarships at Robert Gordon University Aberdeen in UK, 2016-2017

Robert Gordon University Aberdeen offers a number of merit scholarships to outstanding students who wish to study an MSc course at the School in January 2017 academic session. International students are eligible to apply for this scholarship. This is awarded to undertake MSc programme.

University offers a number of general and subject-specific funding schemes. The aim of the scholarships is to attract the best and most motivated people to the UK.

Applicants may be an international student or may be a UK / EU student wishing to study on a full-cost course (a course with a fee of at least £7000 for home/EU students). English is the language of instruction at Robert Gordon University and all students must demonstrate that they’re proficient in reading, writing, speaking and listening before starting a course with us. All applicants whose first language is not from a recognised English speaking country will be asked to provide evidence of their English language skills as part of their offer to study at RGU.

Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded for the following courses: Software Technology with Network Management PgCert/PgDip/MSc, IT for the Oil and Gas Industry, Information and Network Security MSc/PgD/PgCert and Data Science MSc/PgD/PgCert.

Course Level: Scholarships are available to study an MSc course at Robert Gordon University Aberdeen.

Eligibility: Applicants may be an international student or may be a UK / EU student wishing to study on a full-cost course (a course with a fee of at least £7000 for home/EU students).

Scholarship Open for International Students: UK/EU or international students can apply for these merit scholarships.

What does it cover? Each scholarship will cover part-fee £1,000-£2,000. All scholarships are awarded in the form of a discount on fees paid. Scholarships will not be awarded to candidates whose fees are paid by a funding body (i.e. already have another scholarship to pay their fees).

English Language Requirements: English is the language of instruction at Robert Gordon University and all students must demonstrate that they’re proficient in reading, writing, speaking and listening before starting a course with us. Selection Criteria: The School’s award panel will meet in May, August and December to consider all eligible scholarship applications received by the due date. The School will assess all applications against the following criteria:
-Previous academic record and their suitability for postgraduate study in School, ie
-Class of degree / CGPA / final score of first degree
-Relevance of their first degree to the course they are applying for
-The standing of the previous academic institution attended
-Any prizes or awards given to applicants in their first degree
-Relevant industrial or professional experience
-Evidence of workplace experience that is relevant to the course they are applying for
-Personal achievements – evidence of personal achievements in their life to date which indicate they ability to contribute to the wider life of the University community during their studies and the professional community that they will be joining on graduation.
-In the event that 2 applications are scored identically and only one award is available, the panel will award the scholarship to the first application received, using the date of receipt in the University as the relevant date.

Notification: Decisions will be announced 2-3 weeks after the relevant deadline. Successful applicants will be informed in the first instance by email. Applicants will be required to respond by email to accept the offer within two weeks of receiving the offer. Failure to accept the offer will lead to the scholarship offer being withdrawn and offered to an alternative applicant.

How to Apply: Please note that in order to be considered for a scholarship, applicants must already hold an offer of a place to study on an eligible course at the School commencing session 2015-16 or 2016-17. Applicants must, therefore, ensure that their application for a place is submitted well in advance. Applicants should download the Computing Merit Scholarship Application Form and return it as a scanned copy by e-mail. An application must contain a short supporting statement and must also include:
-A scanned transcript of highest academic qualification;
-A scanned copy of IELTS/TOEFL certificate or other English language qualification;
-A scanned copy of University offer letter.
