Awards:

The Graduate College fellowship provides a $17,000 award plus tuition during the final year of study. At the time of the award, the student must be in good academic standing as defined by the department and the Graduate College.

  1. have demonstrated the ability to carry out original research at a high level
  2. have already advanced to doctoral candidacy by February 1 of the academic year
  3. be prepared to devote full time to writing the dissertation with no other employment, including university assistantships.
  4. be within one year of completion of the dissertation upon receipt of the award.

Application Process:

The academic unit submits nominations (electronically) to the Graduate College by the deadline listed above to Pat Saldivar at psaldivar@asu.edu . Questions may be directed to Pat Saldivar at (480) 965-5906.

Applications must be submitted and ranked by the student’s academic unit for evaluation and prioritization in accordance with the unit’s established criteria.

  4. a letter of support from the doctoral dissertation committee chair addressing proposed dissertation progress and timeline for completion. Chair should also attest to the student’s ability to meet the terms of the fellowship during the award year.
  5. a letter of support from the academic unit chair/director/ or graduate director which must include a commitment to provide health insurance during the fellowship year. This letter should also include a ranking number if more than one nomination is being submitted by the unit.
  6. an unofficial ASU transcript

Terms:

The fellowship recipient must:
