Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) is awarding a Fiosraigh scholarship for students who wish to pursue a Ph.D. on a Full-Time basis. Fiosraigh Scholarship is open for students of any higher education institution, in Ireland or internationally.

Successful candidates will be known as a Dublin Institute of Technology Fiosraigh Scholar and will be paid a stipend of €16,000 and €2,000 project costs, for each of the four years.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for students who wish to pursue a Ph.D. on a full-time basis.

Study Subject(s): Applicants should develop their research in liaison with the potential supervisor/supervisory team in one of the following research thematic areas: Environment, Energy and Health, Information, Communications, and Media Technologies, New Materials and Devices and Society, Culture and Enterprise.

Scholarship Award:

• Successful candidates will be known as a Dublin Institute of Technology Fiosraigh Scholar and will be paid a stipend of €16,000 and €2,000 project costs, for each of the four years.
• Project costs will include eligible direct research support expenses to enable the Scholar to carry out the research project, including essential research supplies such as small consumables; books and journals; pay as you go access to national research infrastructure; software and hardware critical for the research -to be obtained in the first year of the award; archival research costs; conference travel and participation; generic and/or specialist disciplinary skills training; publishing and write-up costs. Only vouched expenses incurred in actually carrying out the research project will be funded.

The number of awards (s): There will be a maximum of 8 awards.

Eligibility

• Candidates must have obtained a primary degree classification equivalent to Upper Second Class Honours (2.1) or higher, from an approved University or an approved equivalent degree-awarding body, or have an approved equivalent professional qualification in an area cognate to the proposed research topic.
• An applicant, whose native language is not English, must also display an adequate proficiency in the English language. The minimum level required is 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System or equivalent for the overall average score and a score not lower than 5.5 in each category.

Nationality: Irish and international students are eligible to apply.
