Doctoral Fellowships in Economics, Law and Psychology, Max Planck Institute of Economics, Germany
Doctoral Fellowships in Economics, Law and Psychology, Max Planck Institute of Economics, Germany.
The International Max Planck Research School on Adapting Behavior in a Fundamentally Uncertain World (IMPRS Uncertainty) and the Strategic Interaction Group of the Max Plank Institute of Economics invite outstanding candidates to apply for doctoral fellowships in Economics, Law and Psychology.
The IMPRS Uncertainty combines approaches from Economics, Law and Psychology to explain human decisions under uncertainty more effectively and to better design institutional responses. The Uncertainty-School is jointly hosted by the Max Planck Institutes at Jena, Berlin and Bonn, and the Psychology and Economics Departments of the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena. International Partners are the Department of Psychology of Indiana University, Bloomington, and the Interdepartmental Centre for Research Training in Economics and Management (CIFREM) at the University of Trento, and the Center for Rationality at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. http://www.imprs.econ.mpg.de/
The Max Planck Institute of Economics is one of the world’s leading research institutions in the area of Experimental Economics. The research program of the Strategic Interaction Group emphasizes game theory, experimental economics, and interdisciplinary research. Researchers have access to two experimental laboratories, including a video laboratory and a large subject pool.
Applicants with an Economics background might, instead of participating in the IMPRS group, decide to join the Graduate College “The Economics of Innovative Change” (GK-EIC). The GK-EIC deals with a variety of topics, among others, the foundations of (innovative) behavior, entrepreneurship, the generation of innovations and their diffusion, the change of regional and sectoral structures caused by innovations, the role of the demand side in this context, as well as the political management of change. http://gk.wiwi.uni-jena.de
Applicants are required to hold a Diploma, a Masters Degree or a State Exam with honors in one of the above mentioned disciplines or an equivalent degree in a related discipline.
Deadline for applications is October 17th, 2010. Applications have to be submitted online and should include a CV, transcripts, a letter of interest and two letters of recommendations. The online application form and further information are provided at http://www.imprs.econ.mpg.de/application.
Both, the Max Planck Society and the Friedrich Schiller University are committed to improve the opportunities for women in the sciences and particularly encourage them to apply.
