PhD position available in RNA and Infection Biology
Doctoral program in RNA Biology
Max F. Perutz Laboratories, University of Vienna, Austria
Description:
A PhD position is available to study the role of small RNAs in the regulation of virulence in Streptococcus pyogenes. S. pyogenes is a gram-positive bacterial pathogen responsible for life-threatening diseases in humans. The capacity of this pathogen to initiate its virulence program and consequently cause disease depends on complex regulatory processes that control the expression of virulence factors in response to changing environmental conditions. In the proposed project, we are interested in understanding how a novel class of molecules, regulatory small RNAs, interfere in these processes by fine-tuning gene expression.
Our lab is part of the Max F. Perutz Laboratories (http://www.mfpl.ac.at/). MFPL is located at the Vienna Biocenter Campus, which comprises several private and university research institutes in molecular life sciences (http://www.viennabiocenter.org
The PhD position is integrated in the doctoral program in RNA biology (http://www.projects.mfpl.ac.at
