Eligibility: -Postgraduate students will be selected on the strength of their academic achievements and research potential.
-They must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent from an accredited research university.
-The primary criterion for selection is the innovativeness and solidness of the thesis project, as evidenced by the Research Plan (or updated Work Plan) submitted by the applicant (see below).
-Further criteria include the grade of the Master’s thesis, publication record, experience of work or study in development issues or developing countries, as well as linguistic and cultural capabilities.
-Preference is given to students who are in early stages of their work.

Scholarship Description: University graduates aspiring to complete a PhD degree in Development Studies are invited to apply for 3 doctoral Student Positions with the Finnish National Doctoral Programme in Development Studies (Devestu). Funding is available for three positions for a maximum of 4 years each during the period 2012–2015. Shorter funding periods are also possible. Development Studies is a multidisciplinary, primarily social science field of research. Central to Development Studies is the examination of development interventions, i.e. socio-economic and political measures that are taken to promote and guide societal development in so-called developing countries.
