Job Description: The Donald Court Travel Fund was established in 1996. It is administered jointly by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and BACCH (British Association for Community Child Health). It supports one Fellowship to be awarded every year in memory of Professor Donald Court, former President of the British Paediatric Association.
2. The Fellowship is awarded to enable paediatricians from abroad who need financial assistance to spend four weeks in the United Kingdom, in order to attend the RCPCH Annual Conference and to make visits to centres in the UK. In 2011, the Spring Meeting will be held at the University of Warwick 5 – 7 April.
3. Only trainees or team members in community child health are eligible.
4. Members of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health are encouraged to stimulate applications from eligible candidates and to assist by arranging a clinical attachment where this is appropriate. Applications will be considered by a committee of the Academic Board in October 2010 for the Fellowships to be awarded in 2011.
5. Applicants should include, within the space provided on the application form, a concise summary of the candidates’ interests and needs, and indicate the way in which the Fellowship will be helpful when they return home. Candidates should also, if possible, name the UK centre(s) at which they would like to spend most of their time.
6. Priority will generally be given to applicants who are not otherwise likely to be able to visit the United Kingdom.
7. All travel expenses to the UK at the most economical rate, and registration and accommodation at the Spring Meeting will be covered by the Fellowship. Reasonable expenses incurred in visiting other centres will also be covered. However, the Fellowship does not cover the expenses of any accompanying person(s).
8. Fellows will be required to submit a report on their study programme to the Academic Board within one month of the end of the Fellowship.
9. Selection for Fellowships is made once a year. Applications for 2010 Fellowships must be received in the College office by 5pm on 30 September 2010. A Fellowship cannot be held concurrently with other awards or scholarships.
10. Candidates may only apply for one College Fellowship per year.
