Economic Challenge Investment Funding for Postgraduate Scholarships,Oxford brookes university,UK
In these challenging times, it is important that individuals remain competitive and are able to respond flexibly to the changes in the employment market.
With that in mind, the Graduate School at Oxford Brookes University is pleased to offer a number of scholarships to enable individuals to up-skill or change career direction, in order to improve their chances of re-employment or career development.
Applications are invited from students registering in the academic year 2010/11 for an MA in Publishing, MA in Publishing & Language, MA in International Publishing, MA in Digital Publishing, MA in Creative Writing, MA in English or MA in History, MA in History of Medicine and MA in European Business, Culture and Language.
Applicants should be graduates in one of the following groups:
- Currently unemployed and seeking employment requiring graduate or postgraduate attributes
- Currently employed but seeking to enhance and modernise their skills and knowledge for employability and career development.
Support will be available for students to undertake Master’s courses in a number of ways:
Type A – for those in employment:
Fees only awards with employer support. For these awards, the University will fund 75% of course fees and the employer will be expected to provide day release to permit attendance on the course and to continue to pay the employee’s salary in full. A bursary (of £500 per annum) will be provided by the University to the student to cover books, materials and travel.
Type B - for those wishing to return to employment:
Fees and maintenance allowance awards. Students will be provided with all fees and a maintenance allowance of £8,000, payable quarterly, for a full years study (pro-rata part time over two years).
