I am very happy to hear of Mr. Dessie Keleb and his efforts to revive the old Geez language. The analogy with Ben-Yehuda is a fitting one, and it is good to see how Hebrew serves as a model for the revival of old languages. Please send my congratulations to him for his efforts, and my wishes to him for a successful campaign. There are quite a few scholars around the world who study the Geez language and are glad to hear the news you are spreading.

Do you know the Ethiopian Eliezer Ben Yehoda?

Last time, I read a Graduating bulletin published by Mahibere kidusan. My brother was one of the students Graduated from AAU. He attended from the church education, given by Mahibere kidusan.That is why, he was one of the students whose photographs are posted in the mahibere kidusan graduating bulletin .The bulletin contains all the graduating students in every college and every university of the country. Thanks to my brother, I read about one Geez scholar and about the foundation of the organization on Geez. The founder was Teacher Dessie Keleb . I was so happy that I asked my brother and others about him. He and others who discussed with me told me about him well. As they told me and the magazine witnesses: Dessie Keleb determined that he himself should work hard to raise Geez since 1992 E.C as a student at Addis Ababa Uuniversity. He thought (is also teaching) Geez for 200 students including Muslims and Protestants.. He left Addis Ababa in 1993 E.C, first going to Gonder to continue his church education. So indeed, while still in Gonder, he had pondered upon the revival question deeply, and had published several articles in various magazines and periodicals on the triple question of the raising of the Geez language.It is he who teaches Geez Grammar in Hammer Magazine of Mahibere kidusan. Indeed, these articles can be considered forerunners of modern ideological Ethiopianism. He graduated from Addis Ababa University in history and he is completing his post graduate programme from AAU in philology working on the development of geez since the Axumite period. He founded the society called’ the society of freinds of Geez.’ He is teaching Geez at various places. He has also certificate on Ethiopic qine in Geez and also the interpretation of the New testaments. He speaks Geez very well. He is also said that he is preparing Geez mother tongue speakers. So! in this millennium Dessie is The Ethiopian Eliezer Ben Yehoda (Eliezer Ben Ethiopia ) !!!
Ben-Yehuda was the prophet and propagandist, the theoretician and tactician, the sign and symbol of revival. For the revival of the Hebrew language, that pioneer was Eliezer Ben-Yehuda himself.
