The Department of Engineering and Design at Sussex is ranked in the top 15 departments in the UK (based on the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise). We attract and develop outstanding staff and students and contribute to research at international levels of excellence.

Ethiopia is endowed with abundant water resources potential. However, the progress made in the fields of water development is not significant, so far. Although the country is blessed with substantial hydropower resources, we are among the lowest in terms of per capita electric consumption in the world. Despite the significant surface and ground water potential, Ethiopia has been exposed to cyclic drought and resultant famine due to rapid population growth, environmental degradation, and erratic rainfall patterns.
