Five PhD Studentships Dublin
Five PhD Studentships available
Biodiversity and associated ecosystem services are fundamental to humanity but are threatened by human activity in a range of sectors. The collaborative project SIMBIOSYS is funded by the Environmental Protection Agency under the STRIVE programme (www.epa.ie). It aims to quantify impacts of key sectoral activities on genetic, species and landscape biodiversity and the ecosystem services they provide. In addition, we will test methods for mitigating impacts, carry out in-depth strategic reviews in order to inform national policy decisions, and make recommendations for future strategic research and management. Five unique, integrated, 4-year PhD scholarships are available as part of this project, as follows:
1. Sectoral impacts on pollinators and pollination services, primary supervisor: Jane Stout, Trinity College Dublin (jane.stout@tcd.ie)
2. Biocontrol in agroecosystems, primary supervisor: Mark Emmerson, University College Cork (m.emmerson@ucc.ie)
3. Impacts of bioenergy crops on soil carbon sequestration, primary supervisor: Mike Jones, Trinity College Dublin (mike.jones@tcd.ie)
