Fluor Australia Mechanical Engineering Scholarship at Curtin University in Australia, 2014

Curtin University is offering mechanical engineering scholarship for international, New Zealand and Australian students in Australia. Scholarship will be awarded to students who have chosen to study mechanical engineering at Curtin University and provide opportunities to gain an insight into a career at Fluor Australia. The scholarship will provide up to $5,000 paid as a cash stipend of $2,500 per semester. The amount can be used at the recipient’s discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses. Application should be submitted till February 14, 2014.

Study Subject (s): Scholarship is provided for Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) or the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering), Bachelor of Commerce at Curtin University.

Eligibility: Unless there are exceptional circumstances such as, but not limited, to medical or family reasons, students must meet ALL of the following:
-Remain enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) or the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering), Bachelor of Commerce at a WA campus.
-Maintain a full-time study load of 100 credits per semester at Curtin University.
-Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 60 each semester.
-Pass all units attempted each semester.
Scholarship continuity is subject to meeting satisfactory academic progress as outlined above. Progress will be assessed at the end of each study period. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, a recipient with unsatisfactory progress or who breaches the scholarship conditions shall be ineligible to retain the scholarship. Exceptional circumstances must be forwarded to and shall be at the discretion of the Scholarships Office in consultation with Fluor Australia.

Scholarship Open for International Students: International, New Zealand and Australian students can apply for this scholarship.

Scholarship Description: The Fluor Australia Mechanical Engineering Scholarship has been developed by Fluor Australia in conjunction with Curtin University to encourage and support students who have chosen to study mechanical engineering at Curtin University and provide opportunities to gain an insight into a career at Fluor Australia.

Number of award(s): One scholarship will be offered.

Duration of award(s): Scholarship will be awarded for up to one year.

What does it cover?  The Fluor Australia Mechanical Engineering Scholarship will provide the following support for up to one year (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits per semester):
-A total value of up to $5,000 paid as a cash stipend of $2,500 per semester. The amount can be used at the recipient’s discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses
-Possible opportunity for vacation work and to gain an insight into a career  with Fluor Australia
Payments occur post census date each semester. Payments will be made approximately mid-end April and September, depending on receipt of payment from Fluor Australia.

Selection Criteria: Applications will be assessed by a selection panel using the following criteria:
-Responses to questions in application
-Academic merit
-Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview
-Demonstrated a commitment and strong interest to pursue a career in mechanical engineering
The scholarship(s) will be awarded if there are candidates of sufficient merit.

Notification: All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via their Official Communications Channel within student OASIS in 6 – 8 weeks of the scholarship closing date.

How to Apply: The mode of applying is by post. Email and fax applications will not be accepted.

Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadline is February 14, 2014.
