The Francis Crick Institute is inviting exceptional students to join four year Crick PhD Programme. Students of all nationalities can apply at one of the Crick partner universities (Imperial, King’s, or UCL).

The Francis Crick Institute (the Crick) brings together six of the UK’s most successful scientific and academic organisations – the Medical Research Council, Cancer Research UK, the Wellcome Trust, Imperial College London, King’s College London and UCL.

Brief Description

  • Course Level: Studentships are available to pursue PhD program at one of the Crick partner universities: Imperial College London, King’s College London and University College London.
  • Study Subject: Studentships are awarded for research to understand why disease develops and find new ways to prevent and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease and stroke, infections, and neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Awards: All students starting on the Crick PhD programme will be awarded a tax-free stipend to cover the cost of living. University tuition fees will also be covered.

  • Scholarship can be taken in the UK

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Students of all nationalities can apply for the Crick PhD Studentships.
  • Entrance Requirements: Standard eligibility criteria are:
    • Hold or expect to gain a first/upper second-class honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
    • Have appropriate research experience as part of, or outside of, a university degree course and/or a Masters degree in a relevant subject
    • Are able to satisfy the Crick English Language requirements.

    Students of all nationalities can apply for the Crick PhD programme.

    Applicants should note, however, that restrictions may apply to some PhD projects. Any eligibility restrictions for specific projects will be noted on that project page.

Application Procedure

  • How to Apply: Applications should be submitted online.
  • Submit your application through their academic recruitment system.
  • Candidates who wish to be considered for either the Crick PhD Programme, the Cancer Research UK City of London (CoL) Centre PhD Programme, or both.
  • English Language Requirements: There are English language requirements for students who are not native English-speakers. Information relating to this does not need to be submitted during the application process. If applicants are offered a position on the Crick PhD Programme they will provide with information on their English language requirements.
