FULL Scholarships to Study in China: 2009
Chinese Government Scholarship scheme is established by the Ministry of Education of China (MOE) in accordance with educational exchange agreements or understandings reached between Chinese government and governments of other countries, organizations, education institutions and relevant international organizations to provide both full scholarships and partial scholarships to international students and scholars. MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to handle the enrollment of international students and carry out the routine management of Chinese Government Scholarship Programs.

Application Deadline: April 30, 2009
Application
The applicants shall apply to Chinese diplomatic missions or the competent authorities in their home countries between January and April every year. Applicants may refer to the relevant authorities for details.
Eligibility
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
2. Education background and age limit:
- Applicants for undergraduate programs must have senior high school diploma with good academic performance and be under the age of 25.
- Applicants for master degree programs must have bachelors degree and be under the age of 35.
- Applicants for Doctoral degree programs must have masters degree and be under the age of 40.
- Chinese language students must have senior high school diploma and be under the age of 35, will study Chinese language program in China.
- General scholar candidates must have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies and be under the age of 45, may study all majors besides Chinese language.
- Senior scholar candidates must have masters degree or above, or hold academic titles of associate professor or above, and be under the age of 50.

After completing my high school education, I joined NWFP Agricultural University, Peshawar as undergraduate student of agriculture in 1994-95. I did my B. Sc. (Hons.) in 1999 and M. Sc. (Hons.) in 2001 with specialization in Plant Protection from Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Crop Protection Sciences, NWFP Agricultural University, Peshawar, Pakistan. During graduation, the major subjects I studied include Pest Management; Toxicology; Biological Control; Host Plant Resistance; Insect Physiology; Animal and Plant Genetics and Principles and Methods of Plant Protection. I have an excellent academic background.
After graduation, I joined Pakistan Agricultural Research Council in November, 2002 and since then working as research scientist and conducting research on integrated pest management, population dynamics/life cycle of insect pests of economically important crops, fruits and vegetables. Established and maintained the fruit fly, Baterocera zonata culture in the laboratory for research and development activities. I also worked as team member to develop IPM model for the management of fruit fly in mango and guava orchards.
In 2008, I had the opportunity to visit Japan under JICA sponsored group training course on ‘Integrated Pest Management for Plant Protection” from May 26, 2008 to September 06, 2008.
I am interested to pursue higher education in the field of entomology. Foreign exposure and interaction with renown academicians/scientists/researchers will help me to understand the insect pests phenomena and to find alternatives for their management in an eco-friendly way. I am interested in IPM, host plant resistance and bio-control of insect pests.

I hold an MSc. degree in Parasitology from Kenyatta University, Kenya, Nairobi. For the past two years I have been monitoring a herb that is used locally by some herbalist to treat resistant cases of falciparum malaria. The herb has the potential to be the “radical cure” for malaria. As a single dose the herb clears the erythrocitic and the latent stages of the malaria parasite within 5-6 days. Compared to ACT- Artamisinin based combination therapy, it is a highly superior product in that it appears to last longer in the body thereby preventing recrudescence. It is boiling point water soluble and has a high bioavailabilty, which artemisinin lacks. This qualities make the herb a super candidate for research and integration in the global malaria eradication programme and promises to be affordable Resistance to artemisinin has also been reported in Combodia. Fake Artemesinin products have also been seized in some parts of Asia due to its bio-inavailabilty. The cost of one- three dollars per dose of Artemesinin is high, especially for resource poor African patient. During my Masters studies and while I was in the field, I was approached by certain herbalists who sought my confidentiality to study the herb and decide the way forward. I am now satisfied that the herb is a golden catch.To date, 111 resistant falciparum malaria cases have been cured. This is a big project of which I am trying to develop a concept paper on. I there seek big multinational pharmaceutical firms with cutting edge Scientists, tools and facilities to talk to me. The identity of the herb or samples will remain undercover until the herbalists are fully compensated.
