The Edith Cowan University is inviting applications for Gerald Frank Brown Scholarships. Scholarships are available for students accepted into the Student Exchange Programme or Study Abroad Programme at Edith Cowan University.

The Gerald Frank Brown scholarship has been established by the Government of Western Australia in cooperation with the universities of WA to financially assist high-achieving European students to study in Western Australia through a formal exchange program (inbound).

Scholarship Description:

Application Deadline: January 31, 2018
Course Level: Scholarships are available for students accepted into the Student Exchange Programme or Study Abroad Programme at Edith Cowan University.
Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded to study the subjects offered by the university.
Scholarship Award: The scholarship funds also provide for Western Australian university students to participate in a student exchange program with universities in the European Economic Community (outbound). The scholarship offers a one-time payment of $2,000. For European (inbound) recipients this will be after arriving in Western Australia. For Western Australian (outbound) recipients it will be prior to leaving for Europe.

Eligibility for the Scholarship:

Eligible Countries: Citizens of the European Union and Western Australia are eligible to apply.
Entrance Requirements:
European Students (inbound):
 In order to be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of a country in the European Union;
  • Be currently enrolled in a full-time course at a tertiary institution in the European Union (EU) which has a formal exchange programme with Edith Cowan University;
  • Have completed at least the first year of a full-time course of study at your home institution;
  • Be committed to studying full-time and on-campus; and
  • Have been accepted into the Student Exchange Programme or Study Abroad Programme at Edith Cowan University.

Western Australian Students (outbound): In order to be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident;
  • Be currently enrolled in a full-time course at a tertiary institution in Western Australia;
  • Have completed at least the first year of a full-time course of study at your home institution and hold an overall weighted average of 50%+;
  • Have been accepted into the Student Exchange Programme or Study Abroad Programme through Edith Cowan University.

English Language Requirements: Students need to demonstrate that they have a good level of written and spoken English.

Application Procedure:

Please provide a personal statement of no more than 1 side x A4 page (Arial /11) which outlines the following :

  • Financial situation and how the scholarship will assist your studies
  • Reasons for your choice of study abroad / exchange programme
  • Career goals
