Google Lime Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
Access to knowledge is our thing. When it comes to higher education for promising scholars, we don’t want anything to stand in the way. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Lime. Google is committed to helping the innovators of the future make the most of their talents by providing scholarships and networking retreats for computer science students with disabilities. Recipients of the Google Lime Scholarship will receive a scholarship for the 2009–2010 academic year. Selected students will also be invited to attend the all-expenses-paid retreat at the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA, in 2010. Scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of candidates’ academic background and demonstrated passion – $10,000USD for those studying in the US and $5,000CAD for those studying in Canada (based on average tuition costs).
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must be:
- A student entering their junior or senior year of undergraduate study or be enrolled in a graduate program in the 2009–2010 academic year at a university in the United States or Canada (in addition to US and Canada citizens, international students with disabilities studying at universities in the US or Canada are also encouraged to apply)
- Enrolled in a Computer Science or Computer Engineering program, or a closely related technical field as a full-time student for the 2009–2010 academic year
- A person with a disability (defined as someone who has, or considers themselves to have, a long-term, or recurring, issue that impacts one or more activities that others may consider a daily function); this definition also includes the perception among others that a disability exists

Candidates will apply online via the Lime online application process, and provide the following:
- Contact and education information
- Current resume
- Academic transcripts
- Answers to essay questions
- Two recommendation letters from a professor, adviser or supervisor

We had a conference in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia on the rights of children with Disability last year in May. I have a son whose name ins Eugene Low Weng Seng who is 19 years old. He has just completed his Foundation in Science and score 6 high distinctions and 4 distinctions for the foundation course at a local university in Malaysia. He has mild cerebral palsy and walks with a walking stick but that does not deter him from taking part in basketball and university activities. He launched his first poetry book “31 Days” on 18th December 2008.
I would appreciate if you could consider giving him a chance for the scholarship.

I’m a disabled, woman on a wheelchair. I work as a leader in a foundation which care about disabilities. We have many clients with disabilities who live and get motivation training in the foundation. I really want to improve my expertise of disabilities problem and how to solve it. Because being disabled people is very complicated in my country. That’s why I really want to fix and heal our society, and make people with disabilities feel more comfortable in their life.

I am a Physically Disable Student from Cameroon and age 32. I have just been Accepted to do a Master Degree Program in International Tourism Management (MBA) in Bremen Germany. But lack the financial means to support my study. The total cost of the Tuition is 12.500 euro. Kind regards.
Iam a person with Physical disability ( post polio paralysis on left leg moving with one cruch on the same side) with over ten years’ work experience in Disability Services Management and Rehabilitation work. I currently serve with a National Organization in Uganda with the mandate of promoting Rights and Equalization of Opportunities for persons With Disability. My interest is to get information,invitation and support to participate in any gobal conference for Rehabilitation of Disabled persons or any Disability rights seminar to be held between mid August 2009 and Mid June 2010 in any part of the world. My interest is to share and learn from professionals and persons with disabilities useful positive experiences and challenges faced and to be able to collaborate or network broadly in the interest of disabled persons worldwide and our organisation in Uganda

i am Syed Aftab Hussain from pakistan. i am special person (wheel chair user) and recently i have completed my master degree MBA (Marketing) from University of the Punjab Gujranwala campus. further more i am social worker and also the President of Disabled People Movement (Regd) Pakistan. in the Asian countries the peoples thinks that the disabled peoples are not fruitful for the progress of the country and also show the pity behaviour towords the special people but i absultely never ever agree with the point of view of such type peoples. According to my point of view the disablity is not the sign of discaurgement and disappointment rather the disablity is the sign of power and dignity and also the disablity is the big challenge of life because a man is not made for defeated a man can destroy but not defeated. so in this situation i want to get further study in management sciences/ social work / politics/ journalism / Law in any foreign country. i want to show to the peoples who think that the special person cant get the higher education form abroad. so in this regard please provide me full free scholarship for only on study purpose.
