STARTING SALARY: $9,275.38
ADDITIONAL SALARY INFO: The salary for this position is $9,275.38 but may be higher depending on class standing in graduate program. In addition, to the salary, there is tuition remission for five credits for the Spring and Fall semester and two credits for Winter Term. This is a half time assistantship with an average work week of 10 hours.
Graduate Assistant Position Behavioral and Social Sciences
DUTIES: This is a graduate assistantship with the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSOS) that offers an in-depth educational and professional position to a student working simultaneously towards a graduate degree. Duties for this assistantship revolve primarily around coordinating and planning all details related to the College?s fall and spring commencement ceremonies and, as time permits, assisting the Communications Director assisting with public relations and communication activities. Responsibilities To assist the Facilities Coordinator and Communications Director with all phases of the planning and coordination of the college?s Commencement ceremony in the fall, and the eight department-level ceremonies in the spring. To assist the Communications Director with public relations and communications activities. This position is a 10-hour, one-year renewable assistantship coinciding with the University?s academic program and involving a 9.5-month graduate assistant staff position. The position adheres to the faculty rather that the student holiday calendar.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor?s degree required from a 4-year accredited institution. Candidate must be organized, a creative problem solver, effective in time management, enthusiastic, able to work well with people, able to work with little supervision and flexible hours. Candidate should have good writing, presentation and communication skills and be able to handle course work on a graduate level along with work responsibilities. Proficiency in computer skills a must. Admission to the University of Maryland, College Park Graduate School is required. Preference will be given to BSOS graduate students.
