The Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Universitätsklinikum Marburg und Gießen GmbH is inviting applications for a

Graduate – position (biophysics, physical medicine, bioengineering) (1/2 BAT IIa)

as part of the multidisciplinary LOEWE “Präbionik” (preventive biomechanics) network which has been founded by the state of Hesse for an initial period of three years starting Jan.1st, 2010.

The holder of this position will be in charge of quantitative sonography of the human heart. The date gained are considered as a basis for modeling 3-D mechanical properties of hearts under different stimulating conditions. Support of these investigations by an experienced physicist will be provided. The applicants should hold a Master degree in medical physics, biophysics, bioengineering or similar disciplines.

Applicants should be highly self-motivated, have some background in ultrasound techniques and good team working capabilities. Individuals with backgrounds in echocardiographic investigation and data analysis are especially encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will take part in the LOEWE seminar series and graduate programme. All scientists will benefit from the multidisciplinarity of the network combining life sciences with computational engineering.
