University of Sussex is offering five Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant-Doctoral studentships commencing from 18th September 2014. Each of these is linked to one of the Research Centres in Education and Social Work. UK/EU or international students wishing to commence full or part time study for a doctorate as well as from those already undertaking doctoral study at University of Sussex can apply. These doctoral studentships are awarded for a maximum of three year’s doctoral registration subject to satisfactory progress and satisfactory performance on Research Centre activities. The application deadline is 18 June 2014.

Eligibility: Applicants must:
-Either be: a registered doctoral student on the relevant research degree (+3 PhD in Social Work for Social Work Centres and +PhD in Education for Education Centres) or, have an offer of a place on relevant research degree (+3 PhD in Social Work for Social Work Centres and +PhD in Education for Education Centres) due to commence on 18th September 2014.
-Have submitted a high quality proposal for doctoral work as part of their application to the course or formally approved as a current student. Proposals must also be aligned with the work of the Research Centre their applying to.
-be supervised by staff associated with the Research Centre they are applying to.
-agree to contribute to the Research Centre’s activities as detailed above.
-There is an expectation that candidates can demonstrate that they have undertaken Master’s level social science research methods training.

Applications are welcome from those already undertaking a doctorate at Sussex or those accepted to do so. It is a condition of the scholarships that their holders are registered as doctoral students within the School of Education and Social Work.

Number of award(s): The School of Education and Social Work is offering five Graduate Teaching/Research Assistant-Doctoral studentships. Each of these is linked to one of the Research Centres in Education and Social Work.

Duration of award(s): These doctoral studentships are awarded for a maximum of three year’s doctoral registration subject to satisfactory progress and satisfactory performance on Research Centre activities with commencing from 18th September 2014.

What does it cover? The studentships are designed to provide partial support for tuition fees and living costs. Other costs of full time study and accommodation and living costs are the responsibility of the studentship holder. The studentships carry a bursary of £7000 per annum and tuition fees to the value of UK/EU fees will be paid in full for a maximum of three year’s doctoral registration subject to satisfactory progress and satisfactory performance on Research Centre activities.
